Is America Already Undergoing Judgment?
Scripture teaches us that it is not merely individual but systemic sin in nations that God opposes through His judicious judgment. “Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, have fellowship with You?” (Psalm 94:20). Consequently, God holds kings and nations accountable to His Word: “Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear” (Psalm 2:10-12).
Abraham’s conversation with God about Sodom & Gomorrah reveals his knowledge of God as Judge: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? (Genesis 18:16-33).
The following are eight signs of America under judgment:
In November 2024, America may have a rerun of Trump versus Biden for president. The inconceivable possibility that two men, not biblically qualified to lead a nation (see my article last week), are again the choice for president may be a sign of God judging America by granting the nation the type of leaders they crave or deserve (1 Samuel 8:10-22).
Marriage between one man and one woman was the first institution set up as the primary foundation of human civilization (Genesis 1:27, Genesis 8:2:20-24). Jesus reaffirmed marriage as being between one man and one woman in Matthew 19:4,5. This country has legalized alternative forms of marriage and family, tearing up the societal foundation necessary to nurture future generations. Perhaps God has allowed this to be a sign of judgment upon the nation. If the foundations are destroyed, what will the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3)
3. The cultural acceptance of gender dysphoria
When a nation strays too far, God often gives them up to the desires of their hearts to experience the fruit of their actions (Genesis 15:16; Romans 1:24-32). Some scholars say the acceptance of transgenderism is the last indication of the collapse of an empire since understanding basic human identity is essential for a civilization to flourish.
The common practice of the US to weaponize the dollar to push its economic, military and cultural values on the rest of the world has resulted in serious attempts for alternative global currencies like BRICS. The eventual demise of the dollar as the world currency may be a sign of divine judgment upon the USA.
Citizens deserve the leaders and policies they vote into office. As a result, cities who elect “soft on crime” officials, due to their radical worldview, are paying the price with rampant theft and crime. This voter trend may be a sign of God handing citizens over to the desires of their heart as a form of judgment.
Since the 20th century, many historic Protestant denominations have affirmed alternative forms of marriage and family. This practice continues to cause church division and splits especially within the Methodist and Anglican Churches.

See the following report from Time magazine on the drift away from biblical standards among Evangelicals here.
Recently, evangelical megachurch pastor, Andy Stanley, made statements interpreted by many as affirming anti-biblical forms of human sexuality.
Whenever Christian leaders willingly dismiss the clear teaching of scripture to accommodate culture, it can lead to some form of universalism and other heresies. Consequently, when a large percentage of spiritual leaders mislead the people of God, it is a sign that national judgment is looming.
The Book of Jeremiah contains several passages that criticize spiritual leaders, prophets, and priests of his time for misleading the nation of Israel. (One such passage is Jeremiah 23:16-22.)
The prophet Ezekiel singles out the priests for misleading the people of God. “Her priests do violence to my law and profane my holy things; they do not distinguish between the holy and the profane…” (Ezekiel 22:26).
Jeremiah and Ezekiel’s prophetic words illustrate that before a nation is judged, many of its spiritual leaders distort or dilute the word of God. The USA and other nations in the West may be in a similar situation.
Surveys and polls conducted by various organizations like Pew Research Center, Gallup, and others indicate that younger people have a more favorable view of socialism. For example, a Gallup poll from 2019 showed that 49% of Americans aged 18-34 had a positive view of socialism, compared to lower percentages for older age groups.
Nations that embrace socialism have dramatically lagged behind free market nations. The fact that the next generation of US citizens embraces socialism may be a clear indication God is positioning the USA away from it’s undisputed status as a unipolar power.
Under the Biden administration, hundreds of thousands of undocumented migrants have illegally crossed the border, creating an existential crisis for the USA. Cities such as NYC will be forced to house about 100 thousand, costing the city about 12 billion dollars in support systems.
While most migrants are good people, desperate to find a better life for their families, the unfortunate reality is that they will also provide cheap labor and potentially take thousands of jobs away from US citizens. There is a huge concern they may also consume the housing market and other benefits of displaced military veterans and homeless people. Furthermore, terrorist groups like ISIS are reportedly responsible for aiding the passage of illegals, which can mean a significant increase in potential domestic terrorist activities. In essence, a nation without a functional border is no longer a true nation. This crisis may be one of the final signs of God’s judgment upon our country, which appears to be disinheriting itself by its refusal to implement and enforce a secure border.

Yo te fortaleceré, aunque tú no me hayas conocido [v.5].”

Biblical Standards for Political Leadership
Leaders, like everyone else, have character flaws, yet great leadership must include integrity, self-awareness, courage, respect, empathy, and gratitude. Over the last century, presidents in our country have displayed a panorama of leadership styles and character flaws despite party affiliation.
In the United States, we know that moral virtue and good character are vital attributes of great leadership. Though we are not talking about perfection, pursuing these is critical to the guidance of a nation. Stark deficiencies of moral virtue and good character in national leaders affect their decisions and credibility here and abroad.
In 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower signed a bill to insert the phrase “under God” into the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance. This action met with much protest at the time, yet the reality is that every nation on earth is under the divine authority of God and accountable to Him. Psalm 24:1-2 says, “The earth [is] the LORD’S, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the floods.” It is with this understanding that great leadership unfolds.
In Psalm 2:1-6 God laughs at the futile attempts of “heads of state” to keep Him out of their affairs. There are many ways in which The Lord deals with kings and national leaders (outside of Israel’s covenant) historically and even today. One such instance is how King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon was humbled by behaving like a beast of the field for seven years. This occurred that he might “…know that the Most-High (God) rules in the kingdom of men and gives it to whoever He will” (Daniel 4:25).
Each party within our “two party system” in our Republic developed platforms that dominate the direction of the majority vote. Little consideration is given to the character and moral virtue of people running for public office. For a democratic republic to thrive, it needs leaders of virtuous character. Samuel Adams, an American statesman and founding father of this country, stated: “A general dissolution of principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy.” It is foolish to think that we can keep God out of politics, economics, or, for that matter, any other field. The leadership of nations must be subject to established divine parameters. Leaders must be responsible to their people and accountable before God for their actions.
What does this mean for the citizens of our country as voters? We must vote for men and women who acknowledge the responsibility of the office to be held and who are accountable to God for their actions. Due to the choices involved in prior presidential elections, my endorsement for either major party candidate was withheld. Click here to read more about it.
In Scripture, God’s criteria for leaders are highlighted: able men who fear God, are trustworthy, and detest bribery (Exodus 18:21). These principles also relate to the integrity of political leadership. While some suggest that God chose leaders irrespective of their spiritual standing, the values of great leaders often coincide with godly attributes.
God even chose to anoint King Cyrus (Isa. 45:1-7) to reveal to the King that He was the God of Israel and to reveal Himself as God to the King. God wanted King Cyrus to know: “I am the LORD, and there is no one else; There is no God except Me. I will embrace you, though you have not known Me [v.5].” The Lord did this to orchestrate the freedom of the Jewish people from Babylonian Captivity and to show all people His Lordship and that there is no one else [v.6]. King Cyrus’ heart was pliable in the hands of the Lord God.
Scriptural passages regarding character requirements for civic leadership imply that (even without a saving knowledge of God) they must respect God and His innate moral laws. Proverbs 8:15-16, “By Me kings reign, and rulers decree what is just; by Me princes rule, and nobles, all who govern justly.”
Romans 13:1-7 references God appointing Roman magistrates, even though not saved, as instruments of His judgment to punish wrongdoers. This aligns with the innate moral law across cultures, consistent with the last six of the Ten Commandments concerning societal governance.
Christian citizens should vote for people who value moral virtue and good character in adherence to divine principles and standards in society. God’s love and wisdom should not be viewed as confining; rather, true freedom is found within the same. Men and women who promote confusion, chaos, and controversy and try to obfuscate their ambition by dividing us via innuendos or causing strife in our nation should not be considered for public office. Within each party, we need to search for those who are God-fearing, of moral character and driven to unite this nation and vote them into office.
We, the people of this great nation, must consider leaders for public office not by the rhetoric of their words but rather by the content of their character. Andrew Carnegie stated, “No man will make a great leader who wants to do it all himself, or to get all the credit for doing it.” Any political candidate must be conscious of the influence of God in their lives and their fellow man as they serve to benefit all.
As Joe Biden and Donald Trump lead the presidential polls, it reflects a deeper issue: America may be under divine judgment. When Israel was granted King Saul, God gave them their choice and allowed them to face the repercussions (1 Samuel 8).
Let us identify and vote for righteous individuals emerging in our political landscape: “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people mourn” (Proverbs 29:2).

The Issue I Have with Mass Deliverances
Pastor Greg Locke contributed to a resurgence in deliverance ministry with his film, “Come Out in Jesus’ Name.” As a former cessationist, he has now realized God’s power to heal and cast out demons, which I think is a great thing!
While deliverance was a significant aspect of Jesus’ ministry, I believe other crucial elements, such as healing the sick, preaching, and discipling the 12 apostles, take precedence.
In the film, which I haven’t had the chance to see yet, crowds of people undergo deliverance from demons. While I support deliverance ministry and have personally cast out demons from hundreds of people, I have concerns about mass deliverances.
Firstly, let me clarify my beliefs on this topic.
What are demons? By demons, I refer to disembodied evil spirits that Moses connects to false gods in Deuteronomy 32:17, and the Apostle Paul connects to the powers of darkness in Ephesians 6:10-13.
There are also hierarchies of the demonic, with Satan as the leader and principalities, powers, and princes under him, ruling the ungodly world systems. In Matthew and Luke chapter 4, we see the devil offering Jesus all the kingdoms of the world.
John the Apostle states that the whole world lies under the control of the evil one in 1 John 5:19.
Regarding the ministry of deliverance, I believe Christians can have a demon and be oppressed by demons. However, I do not believe that a true Christian can be demon-possessed since they have already been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, as mentioned in 1 Peter 1:18-19.
Consequently, demons have a legal right to inhabit those not following Jesus. That’s why I ask people to commit themselves to the Lordship of Jesus Christ before attempting to cast a demon out of them.
So, how can a demon harass a true Christian?
According to Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5:23, humans are tripartite beings consisting of a spirit, soul, and body. Demons cannot dwell inside the spirit of a Christian since we are in union with Jesus in our spirit, according to 1 Corinthians 6:17. However, they can invade the thoughts and mind of a Christian, which is why we are called to cast down imaginations and thoughts that come against the knowledge of God (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). This passage suggests that the strongholds we need to break are in the realm of the mind through thoughts, images, and reasonings that oppose the Word of God.
That’s why Jesus used Scripture when He resisted the devil in the wilderness. The demonic can also cause sickness and reside in a person’s body, as seen in Luke 13:10-17 when Jesus cast a spirit of infirmity out of a woman who was in covenant with God as she was called “a daughter of Abraham.” It seems that Jesus only cast demons out of those in covenant with God since demons had no legal right to harass those following Yahweh.
Now, let’s discuss my concerns about mass deliverances.
As a pastor since 1984, I have cast out demons from hundreds of people, given the prevalence of witchcraft in the Sunset Park community where we started our church, such as Santeria and others.
I have found that after casting out a demon or demons from a person, they need immediate follow-up and instruction in the Word of God. They have to walk with God, or else the demons will return seven times worse, as Jesus mentioned in Matthew 12:43-45.
Our church provides several weeks of weekly prayer and follow-up for those who experience deliverance. We also address emotional and psychological issues such as bitterness, unforgiveness, generational habit patterns, and rebellious lifestyles. All these aspects are part of the follow-up process after the demon is cast out.
What I’m saying is that casting out a demon is relatively easy—the challenging part is the shepherding aspect, where mature believers assist the person (who was set free) in maintaining their freedom by learning how to walk with God and be continually filled with the Holy Spirit and His Word.
In a public mass deliverance event promoted to the public with several thousand attendees, I have the following questions:
– Do the attendees have a church and a pastor?
– Do they have a local church where they will receive ongoing counseling, Bible study, and discipleship?
– Do they vet those who come up for deliverance?
– Do they know if the attendees are ready for it? For instance, we utilize a thorough questionnaire about their history and lifestyle to uncover possible rebellion issues against God and other relevant factors. This way, when we perform a deliverance, we are very thorough and pay attention to everything. Sometimes, we need more than one meeting because there may be several layers of demonic entities to confront, connected to different lifestyle issues or thought patterns.
– How do they determine if some unsaved, demonized individuals aren’t attending their gathering to intentionally manifest and distract from those who genuinely desire deliverance?
Consequently, considering the above concerns, I would never attempt a public deliverance service unless there is ample local church support and the attendees are already connected to a form of shepherding and care for follow-up meetings.
As I mentioned before, I haven’t seen the movie “Come Out in Jesus’ Name.” They may have already addressed all my concerns. If not, such a deliverance gathering may leave individuals church-less and disconnected, in a worse condition, while their need for deliverance persists with even more demons (sevenfold) invading their mental and physical space.

The Seven Challenges of Generational Christianity: An In-Depth Analysis
In historical narratives in the Bible or church records, we seldom read about the offspring of significant figures, such as the original 12 apostles. For example, Peter was married, yet we find no record of his children carrying forward his traditions. Despite the belief that our progeny should surpass us, the zeal necessary for this progression is often not instilled in the next generation. The explanation? They do not have to pay the same price or undergo the same dramatic conversion experience their parents did. This essay will outline seven challenges that arise in generational Christianity.
Challenge 1: Lack of a Powerful Testimony
The first challenge is the lack of a powerful testimony of deliverance from worldly experiences. Unlike their parents, children raised in a Christian environment often do not have dramatic experiences of sin and salvation. Their journey is more likely to be a steady continuum of faith, which, while valuable, might lack the intensity of a profound conversion narrative.
Challenge 2: Taking Faith for Granted
Children of Christian parents often take the things of God and the church for granted. Immersed in faith since birth, the teachings and practices of Christianity might become routine and lose their profoundness. This lack of realization of the magnitude of their faith can lead to a superficial relationship with God.
Challenge 3: Unprepared for the Secular World
The third challenge is the potential unpreparedness for the secular world. Some Christian parents opt to shield their children from worldly influences, which might result in these children struggling to reconcile their faith with the secular views they encounter in high school or college.
Challenge 4: No Need for Sacrifices
The fourth challenge is that children often do not have to pay the price of fasting and prayer to establish their lives after their parents have already done so. This can create a disconnect from the hardships their parents had to endure, reducing their appreciation of the faith’s sacrifices.
Challenge 5: Prosperity and Lack of Faith
The prosperity from the blessings bestowed upon their parents often surrounds second-generation Christians. This abundance might diminish their need for faith, as their life circumstances do not require the same reliance on God that their parents experienced.
Challenge 6: Replicating Negative Traits
Unfortunately, children sometimes mirror the worst traits they see in their parents. Using the biblical example of King David, his children seemed to emulate his issues with infidelity and women more than his bravery and devotion to God.
Challenge 7: Resenting Sacrifices
The final challenge is that children of spiritual pioneers might resent the sacrifices their parents made when pioneering a new church or ministry. Feeling neglected, they may grow to resent God and the church, associating them with their parents’ absence.
Despite these challenges, the belief remains strong that our descendants are destined to surpass us, with faith as their greatest inheritance (Proverbs 13:22). God intends to bless us for a thousand generations, emphasizing the importance of faith’s continuity. Therefore, it is crucial to recognize these potential obstacles in generational Christianity and foster honest, transparent dialogues with our children. Through understanding and communication, we can guide them to build a profound, personal relationship with God, ensuring the flame of faith continues to burn brightly through generations.

Exploring the 8 Key Perspectives on Atonement: A Deep Dive
Throughout history, various theories have emerged to explain the nature and significance of Christ’s atoning sacrifice. In this article, we will explore eight prominent views that can deepen our understanding of the redemptive work of Christ.
Ransom Theory, also known as Christus Victor, emphasizes the victory of Christ over the powers of sin, death, and the devil. According to this theory, these forces held humanity captive, and Christ’s sacrifice served as a ransom to secure our liberation. Through His death and resurrection, Christ conquered the powers of darkness and restored the believer’s freedom. According to some scholars, this theory was prominent in the early Church, highlighting Jesus’ triumph and deliverance of humanity from bondage.
Some passages used for this view: Colossians 2:15; Hebrews 2:14; 1 John 3:8
The major proponent of this view is St. Anselm of Canterbury. This theory highlights the satisfaction of God’s justice through Christ’s sacrifice. It teaches that humanity’s sin incurred a debt to God’s righteousness and justice, which only a perfect human gift could repay. Being sinless, Christ offered Himself the ideal satisfaction for human sin, appeasing God’s justice and restoring the broken relationship between God and humanity.
Some passages used for this view: Isaiah 53:5-6 and Romans 3:23-26.
The Penal Substitutionary Atonement asserts that Christ, as a sinless substitute, bore the penalty of sin on behalf of humanity. This theory holds that humanity’s sin deserved punishment, and Christ satisfied the demands of justice by willingly taking upon Himself the divine wrath and judgment that should have fallen on us.
Some passages used for this view: Isaiah 53:5-6; Romans 3:21-26; 2 Corinthians 5:21
The Moral Influence Theory emphasizes the transformative impact of Christ’s sacrifice on humanity. In this view, Christ’s death serves as a demonstration of God’s love, inspiring individuals to turn away from sin and embrace a life of righteousness. The focus is on the moral example and influence of Christ’s sacrificial love, leading to personal transformation and renewed relationships with God and others. Of course this theory falls short since Christ was not merely an example but destroyed the power of sin and Satan by His shed blood.
Some passages used for this view: the Beatitudes of Matthew 5:1-16; John 13:34-35; 1 John 4:7-8
The Governmental Theory emphasizes the divine government and the need for moral order. According to this theory, Christ’s atonement serves as a demonstration of God’s justice and mercy. By suffering on behalf of humanity, Christ upholds the moral order and satisfies the demands of justice without necessitating a strict payment for individual sins. God’s mercy is extended to society through His sacrifice, inviting repentance and reconciliation.
Some passages used for this view: Romans 3:25-26 (since God demonstrates His righteousness through the sacrifice of Jesus); 2 Corinthians 5:19 (showing God restoring moral order by reconciling the world back to Himself); 1 Peter 2:24 (which illustrates a public display of divine justice).
Recapitulation Theory, influenced by the early church father, Irenaeus, and held by many in the Eastern Orthodox Church, emphasizes Christ’s identification with humanity as the new Adam. According to this theory, Christ, as the perfect human, recapitulates and restores humanity’s fallen state. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Christ overcomes the consequences of Adam’s sin, restoring humanity’s original purpose and bringing reconciliation and restoration.
Some passages used for this view: Romans 5:12-19 (illustrating the concept of restoration of God’s original intent for humanity through Christ); Ephesians 1:9-10 (where God restores humanity and the created order back to Himself); 1 Corinthians 15:22
Mystical Union Theory, or Participatory Atonement, focuses on the union between Christ and believers. According to this theory, believers participate in His death and resurrection through faith in Christ, experiencing a transformative union with Him. Christ’s atonement is seen as a mystical and transformative act that enables believers to share in His divine nature through His redemptive work, which reconciled them to God.
Passages that can be used for this view include: John 15:4-7; Romans 6:3-8; Galatians 2:20; 2 Peter 1:4
The postmodern view of the atonement theory rejects singular explanations and embraces diverse interpretations. It emphasizes personal and subjective experiences, focusing on individuals’ narratives and cultural contexts. Some postmodern theologians argue for a nonviolent atonement, where Jesus’ death reveals the unjust systems of the world and calls for social transformation.
Except for the nonviolent view, the advantage of this perspective is that it does not limit atonement theory to one rational perspective. Since it is so vast, it would be difficult for one theory to reflect the comprehensive nature of the redemptive work of Christ.
Each theory offers a unique perspective and contributes to our understanding of God’s love, justice, and the restoration of humanity.
