A church seeking relevance in the world, increasingly looking like the social agencies of the world, hoping to convert “them” not noticing “we” are already half converted in our thinking, attitude, practices, methods and results-falling short is one biblical phrase that comes to mind-all the while sure our “view” will prevail. The world won’t mind for a while, as long as the churches here described seek relevance by the worlds criteria. The battle has been lost and will continue until who the true anti-christ is, is understood. But all the while in a backwater place, God is working in small numbers with real results.

For decades the church has increasingly been abdicating its responsibilities to government. Government was not designed to handle the work. We’ve spent almost $20 trillion in the War on Poverty, and the poverty rate is right where it was when we started 50+ years ago. According to the Hertiage Foundation, for every dollar we send to Washington only 30 cents comes back in actual services to the poor. We can do better with those dollars in our communities and churches where we are closer to those who really need help. When the crash comes, when money doesn’t work anymore and when government checks cease to flow, the church will be forced to be the church again. Those who heed Dr. Mattera’s advice will be prepared. Bravo to Dr. Mattera for thinking ahead.

Joseph, while I agree its good to be prepared im afraid I agree with Nancy. Most of the prophecy ive heared that bear withness declare that the future of the United States will be determined by the impact of the church. We are the carriers of the gospel if this society fails it will be because we let it and we will suffer with it. Have you heard Shaun Blignauts prophesy from the apostolic leadership summit in Washington on You Tube. Its worth listening too
