Another outstanding article very much “on point”. We are surely facing a crisis point and many of our church leaders refuse to marshal the troops under their influence. I am told their reason is it is a hinderance to their commitment to preach the gospel to all. And so ‘evangelism’, as important a piece as it is to the Christian mission, has negated the ‘prophetic’ mission of the church. The Reformation ushered in a Biblical Worldview, but America has moved away from this in favor of a dominate ‘evangelism’ and “revival” mentaliy fostered by the Great Awakenings and the dominace of the Evangelist over the last 150 plus years. We need a systemic shift back to understanding Christianity as more than a “personal” crusade, that is ONLY about converting people for the sake of them enjoying a “personal relationship” and devotional life, to raising up disciples that think Biblically about “all of life” and our responsibility to culture, if we are to stand a chance.
