The following are eight of the most important leadership principles I have learned as a senior leader over the past three decades. I have found that each of these leadership principles is vital to the success of any organization, whether it be faith-based or not.

Ever since the Western and Eastern branches of Christianity divided in the 11th century, some of the greatest fears of the once united Christendom have been realized: fragmentation and division. Even in the 16thcentury, when Martin Luther led the Protestant Reformation, there was hope there would only be a few major expressions of the body of Christ. Never in their wildest dreams did the reformers envision all the denominations and various branches and networks of Christianity that have evolved, which has given opportunity for a spirit of lawlessness, independence and empire building among some insecure but gifted leaders.

Jesus and the apostles did not inaugurate another religious system, but the age of the Kingdom of God; As we examine the gospels and the book of Acts, the main theme of the preaching was the Kingdom of God- not the church and not a religion.

Over thirty years ago my wife Joyce and I traveled to the Soviet Union for six weeks on a three-city missionary tour. This began a three month process culminating in our official launch into full-time church ministry in November 1980.
