The United States Coalition of Apostolic Leaders Officially Launched June 17

The International Coalition of Apostolic Leaders (formerly ICA which stood for International Coalition of Apostles) was conceived in Singapore in 1999 by a group of international apostolic leaders. The group discussed how God could use the combined efforts of global apostolic leadership to advance the Kingdom of God more effectively. John P. Kelly was appointed the leader of this new initiative and after two years, he asked Dr. C. Peter Wagner to become the lead convener of the movement. In 2009, on the eve of his 80th birthday, C. Peter Wagner was directed by the Lord to ask John P. Kelly to again assume the role of convening apostolic leader over ICAL.

Within the past two years, Kelly has focused on launching autonomous apostolic coalitions in every nation affiliated with this movement. With that in mind, in June of 2013, Kelly, with the unanimous approval of the International Apostolic Council, named me (Joseph Mattera) to be the convening leader over the United States. The primary objective I have for 2014 is to assemble a national council made up of regional and national apostolic leaders that combine significant influence with godly character that can adequately represent the Body of Christ in our nation. Consequently, on Tuesday June 17, approximately 40 leaders met in Atlanta (hosted by council member Bishop Dale Bronner) to hear the vision for our national coalition and to formally become a council (the overwhelming majority confirmed their council participation that day).

This group was a mosaic of seasoned multi-ethnic apostolic leaders (Charismatic and non-Charismatic) of both genders and various vocations in many spheres of society that represent the beautiful diversity of the Kingdom of God. Those who attended included leaders in the church and marketplace such as: John Benefiel, Dale Bronner, Roderick Caesar, Richard Callahan, David Carey, Ron Cottle, Buddy Crum, Ralph Dennis, Robert Engelhardt, Steve Fedyski, Jim Garlow, Tim Hamon, Walt Healy, Herb Hutchinson, John Kelly, Randal Langley, Dennis Peacocke, Bart Pierce, Jeff Reed, Eugene Reeves, Sam Rohrer, Glenn Schaffer, Kyle Searcy, Robert Stearns, Doug Stringer, Hubie Synn, Bill Thomas, Paul VanValin, Luis Vargas, Barbara Yoder and more. Interested potential council members who could not be present include Michael Brown, Mark Chironna, Ben Paz, Lance Wallnau, H. Daniel Wilson, Barbara Wentroble, and more.

Among other things, at this meeting I presented the name of our national organization,  “The United States Coalition of Apostolic Leaders”(US CAL) as well as the “4 R Vision” which stands for:

R -Restore the church to the mission and method of the way of Jesus and the apostles

R- Reconciliation between ethnic leaders and various expressions of the church

R- Revive the church to expand kingdom influence

R- Reformation of society through Christ like compassionate service to communities for systemic change that reflect biblical ethics and practice.

As a fast growing association (we are a fellowship and network of networks, not a denomination or entity that exerts governance over its members) that is beginning with more than 200 ICAL members in the USA. Our immediate goal is to conduct conferences and leadership summits across the nation to teach and dialogue regarding this 4 R Vision.

We will also emphasize apostolic function and fruit rather than apostolic titles as well as be a voice of concern regarding inordinate entitlement and/or autocratic leadership associated with the name apostolic in the past. (For my perspective ,and with John Kelly’s agreement “On Abuses and Blessings of the Contemporary Apostolic Movement” read: https://mminew.matteramanagement.com/abuses-and-blessings-of-the-contemporary-apostolic-movement/)

Our movement will also celebrate the virtues of brokenness, servant hood, and living in simplicity since Jesus taught that “the poor in spirit will inherit the kingdom and, the meek will inherit the earth”! Ultimately, we envision ourselves as a divine conduit to advance Kingdom purposes that bless the church and promote flourishing cities and nations!

ALL NATIONS TABERNACLE May 31, June 1

On Saturday night I ministered in All Nations Tabernacle for their 10th anniversary service. This church is overseen by Pastor Dana Pickett, a close friend who served as an elder and pastor of our home church (Resurrection Church of NY) for eight years before re-locating to his hometown and starting this church in Albany. They have a multi-ethnic multi-lingual church with services in four languages. Their vision and practice definitely matches the name of their church!

Saturday May 31

On Saturday I preached on “Eight Essential Traits Needed to Represent God” dealing with the issue of brokenness, integrity, humility and godliness. God gave me great liberty to teach and the many pastors and leaders present were greatly challenged and the church was edified! They said it fit right where the church was.

Sunday June 1

On Sunday morning I preached on “Our Identification as Sons of God” and dealt with the issue of being rooted and grounded in knowing the heart of God as our daddy. God moved powerfully and at the end we had a solemn altar call with most of the men responding and allowing to heal their “father wounds” so they can receive the anointing of Elijah the prophet to “turn the hearts of the fathers back to the children” (Mal. 4:4-6)

HISPANIC APOSTOLIC NETWORK IN THE BRONX N.Y. June 7

On Saturday June 7 I ministered to a large Hispanic Network led by about twelve of the leading Latino Apostolic Leaders in the Tri-State N.Y. region. About 1200 pastors, leaders and apostolic leaders of networks were present as I prophetically preached on “How God Called the Local Church to Influence Society.” God gave me a great prophetic teaching and preaching anointing as I taught on what the Kingdom of God is and how the church is the major vehicle of the Kingdom to manage the planet. I was told by several of the leading pastors present that I dropped a nuclear bomb on the place and shifted the thinking and planning of many of the key leaders present.

THE UPPER ROOM WORLD OUTREACH CENTER IN LONG ISLAND June 8

The next day on Sunday I was pleased to preach twice (9am and 11 am) at the Upper Room in Deer Park Long Island which is overseen by my dear friend, Bishop Anthony Donofrio. This has been perhaps the most influential mega-church in Long Island the past three decades when it comes to promoting revival, renewal, moves of the spirit, worship, outreach and revelatory preaching. God gave me a strong prophetic anointing as I preached primarily from the first Phrase of the “Lord’s Prayer” “Our Father.” I got into why Jesus started the prayer off that way and the vast implications identification with God as our father has for our life and purpose. Hundreds of people responded to the altar in both services and God gave me many prophetic words for this great church.

“TOTAL HEALTH” LEADERSHIP RETREAT June 12 & 13

Every twelve months the network I oversee (Christ Covenant Coalition) has two leadership retreats for those affiliated with our movement. This time I taught on “How the Gospel Deals with Healing of the Soul, “my wife taught a session on “Nutritional Health” and Dr. Paul VanValin taught three sessions related to emotional health for leaders. There were about 40 leaders and God greatly moved with powerful worship led by Pastor Steve Hannett. We all grew closer together and became more connected to our “center” in Christ!

REFORMATION APOSTOLIC NETWORK June 20

On Friday June 20 I taught more than two hundred pastors and leaders in a conference hosted by Apostle John Tetsola. I taught one session at 1 pm on “Essentials of Apostolic Truth“and at night I taught on “Vital Aspects for Spiritual leadership.”

With both of these teachings God moved powerfully. In the first teaching I brought clarity to what apostolic leadership is and what it isn’t and in the night meeting I dealt with how we can be authentic leaders that are: dependent upon God, self-aware, have proper boundaries, establish sacred rhythms, walk in the fruit of the spirit, learn to function in the midst of a high stress environment and receive their main identity in life from God as their father. Almost all the leaders responded to the altar call to rededicate their lives to God and God moved in prophetic ministry given to specific individuals as well as bringing a mind shift related to how to function in high capacity leadership without losing their soul. I thank God for the opportunity He gave me to pour into these amazing leaders from numerous nations of the world.

CALVARY LIFE CHURCH June 22

On Sunday June 22, I preached in Calvary Christian Church in the Bronx N.Y. under the leadership of Apostle Victor Nazario. They are a great New Testament church that is also part of our network of Churches that I oversee (Christ Covenant Coalition).

Since they recently dedicated a new facility, God gave me a strong teaching based on the book of Nehemiah on “Twelve Essentials on Activating and Implementing Vision.” God gave me great liberty to teach and bring clarity related to various challenges and strategies a church body will go through when they are going to the next level of influence in their community. God also moved powerfully in the prophetic as myself and one of my spiritual sons ministered personally to many people who responded to the altar call at the end. I believe the word of the Lord that was taught greatly strengthened and encouraged the church and I thank God I was able to teach in a church with such a great apostolic foundation.
